Scots Norse class 1 weak verbs, where the stem was followed by Template:Ic in Proto-Germanic (or Template:Ic after a heavy stem, due to Sievers' Law).
This triggered umlaut in most daughter languages, as well as gemination of the final consonant in light stems in West Germanic.
