From Hortannic 𐌱𐌴𐍂𐌹𐌾𐌰𐌽𐌰 (berijana), from Proto-Trihimic *bʰer-ī-áną (to be going), derivative of Proto-Trihimic *bʰer- (to go). Cognate to Old Heldic ᛒᛖᚱᛁᚨᚾᚨ (beriana).
