From Old Jorvanian ejfo, from earlier ejtoko, from an assumed Vulgar Latin *aetāticum, derived from Latin aetātem, itself derived from aevum (“lifetime”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-Phrazean *h₂eyu- (“vital force”).
